Volunteer Opportunity for Planning Commission
The City Council is looking for one volunteer to appoint to the Gearhart Planning Commission. The planning commission consists of seven voting members to be appointed by the mayor with the concurrence of a majority of the city council.
The term of office for a member shall be four years with terms expiring on November 30 of the fourth year after appointment. Planning commission meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Occasionally the planning commission will hold an additional work session.
Members of the planning commission will be chosen from the residents or the property owners within the city and urban growth boundary.
The planning commission shall study the subdivision of land and make recommendations to the city council, to public officials and to individuals regarding land use, location of thoroughfares, public buildings, parks and other public facilities. The planning commission also studies any other matter relating to the planning and development of the city and the surrounding area.
Applications and questionnaires for the Planning Commission may be downloaded (below) and returned via fax (503-738-9385), EMAIL, or dropped in the outdoor box at City Hall’s front door - 698 Pacific Way. Applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 28th. Interviews take place at 6:00 p.m. following the public hearing during the March 2nd online City Council meeting.
